News: NEVSAIL - Maritime Festival 2010

The Kilkee Maritime Festival 2010:

Its official! Fancy dress ALL weekend folks. The theme is maritime so let your imaginations go wild!!! Expect pirates, sailors, various sea creatures & jolly rogers as far as the eye can see. Adults; Fabulous spot prizes on Saturday night for best dressed and most inventive costumes in all the pubs! Kids; Get your face painted & join the carnival atmosphere in the Sunday morning Maritime Parade!

The Kilkee Maritime Festival 2010 SCHEDULE :

Friday 16th July:

Celtic Tenors to perform in St. Senan's Church

Saturday 17th July: 

ALL DAY: Underwater Treasure Hunt

ALL DAY: Kayaks/ canoeing/ surfing/ windsurfing lessons@ Nevsail Watersports with50% discount between 2-4.30pm 

Also Nevsail will be running - Sailing trips to Georges head: 50% discount 2pm- 4.30pm. Free if your in fancy dress

2-5pm Sand sculpting competition 

5pm Raftbuilding competition


Sunday 18th July: 

ALL DAY: Kayaks/ canoeing/ surfing/ windsurfing lessons@ Nevsail Watersports with 50% discount 2-4.30pm

12noon Fancy Dress Street Parade with stilt walkers & guests Elmo & Shrek 

1pm-5pm Family beach activities; novelty races, face painting, bouncy castle

2-5pm Curragh Regatta, followed by prize giving

5pm Kilkee Bar Staff, Kilkee Curragh Club & Kilkee Sub Aqua Club present:

It's A Knockout - Pontoon pirate rescue in curraghs!

A race to save the abandoned pirates (aka bar staff) from the pontoon of despair!

Nighttime activities involving fancy dress throughout the weekend.

KILKEE CURRAGH REGATTA:

This year sees the 2Oth regatta and anniversary of the Kilkee Currach Club. The club was initially set up to keep old canoes in use, and keep us in contact with our history and environment in a very real way. In recent years we have seen the experienced crews passing on their skills to a new injection of young blood who are forming crews and taking to the sea at a phenomenal rate!
5 of 8 new boats built in Clare last year will take part in this regatta in what promises to be a fantastic sight we can all be proud to enjoy.

STREET CARNIVAL:

Come join in the fun at our Mariitime Weekend we have Mega Slides , Climbing Walls, Quasar, for the smallies we have face painting, temporary tattoos, puppet shows and bouncy castles. Sand Castle Buildingon our famoussafe beach. Pirates on Stilts, Acrobats ( A 30 min high energy, high skills acrobatics show enjoyed both by adults and children alike)Come and see Elmo and Shrek in person who are also joining in on the great fun and activities!


KILKEE RAFT RACE:

Design, build and race your own raft in Kilkee maritime festivals inaugural raft race extravaganza !!

* 600 euro prize money (plus the coveted Kilkee Castaway Cup up for grabs !)
* Junior and senior categories
* Min 2 Max 6 crew per raft 
* Fancy dress theme 
* Prizes also given for best dressed crew and most original design 
* All are welcome including family entries

KILKEE SUB AQUA UNDERWATER TREASURE HUNT:

Calling all divers!

We are inviting all CFT & PADI divers to participate in an underwater treasure hunt through our world famous dive sites just outside the glorious horseshoe bay that is Kilkee. Gather together teams of 6: 4xdivers, 2xsnorklers and come and explore our spectacular underwater coastline for hidden treasures.

Team prizes & individual prizes in abundance! Big money & dive equipment up for grabs! Fancy dress optional (?)

NEVSAIL WATERSPORTS ACTIVITIES:

Saturday Sailing - "Pirate Trips to Georges Head/Chimney Bay and back to Kilkee strand" Cost €3 per person. (Average time on Voyage 30-45mins). FANCY DRESS FREE

Saturday and Sunday - Kayaking/Canoeing/Windsurfing/Surfing @ Nevsail Hut ALL DAY 50% Discount 2-4:30pm.
